£34.95 34.9500 In Stock New

Malus domestica 'Bramley's Seedling'

The UK’s favourite cooking apple. The original tree still exists in a garden near Nottingham where it was grown from a pip in 1809. The large fruits cook to a pale cream puree with strong acidity and flavour. Very attractive bright pink blossom. Stores very well.

Supplied in a ‘Y’ shape with two main shoots that can be trained out in opposite directions at about 45-60cm (18-24in) above the ground. On receipt you will need to tie the arms down gradually (in several stages) to a horizontal supporting framework (not supplied).

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Triploid (will not act as a pollinator). Group B.

Season: Nov - Mar.

Tree Form: Stepover.

Available for delivery: late November/December - early May.

Stepovers are ideal for planting at the front of ornamental borders and vegetable plots to form a low edging that is both attractive and productive. Cultivated since Victorian times, they are basically one tier espaliers that are low enough to simply ‘step over’ where necessary. Stepovers are supplied in a ‘Y’ shape with two main shoots that can be trained out in opposite directions at about 45-60cm (18-24in) above the ground. On receipt you will need to tie the arms down gradually (in several stages) to a horizontal supporting framework (not supplied). Allow 2.4-3.5m (8-12ft) total spread per tree. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include a Gripple Wire Tensioning Kit on your order, the easy way to support stepover fruit trees. For better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).

Cordon Apple 'Belle de Boskoop'
£28.95Cordon Apple 'Belle de Boskoop'This dual-purpose dessert/culinary apple was introduced in the Netherlands in the 1850s and is very popular on the continent. It produces medium-large greenish-yellow, red-flushed fruits that are often covered in russet. When cooked it is well-flavoured, hardly needing any sugar. It will cook to a thick, golden puree but the slices will hold their shape in a continental-style apple pie or flan. Eaten fresh, the fruits are quite sharp with a very firm texture. The fruits store well, with the flavour becoming progressively sweeter during storage. The tree is vigorous and heavy cropping and does well in cold, high rainfall areas.Buy Now
