If you are fortunate enough to have a fairly large garden and you want to plant a beautiful, majestic tree, then a walnut or sweet chestnut tree is definitely worth considering. Walnuts and sweet chestnuts require space and ultimately make large trees of up to 8-10m (25-33ft) in height. Where space is limited they can be repeatedly ‘tipped’ or alternatively grown in a Root Control Bag to restrict their size. Trees are available from late November to early May.
For better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
