Gooseberry Bush 'Captivator'

Gooseberry Bush 'Captivator'

Gooseberry Bush 'Captivator' Code: GOS005

£13.50 13.5000 In Stock New

Ribes uva-crispa 'Captivator'

A new dessert/culinary gooseberry producing large, sweet red fruits that are delicious eaten fresh. The bush is vigorous, mildew resistant and very cold hardy. A reliable cropper. Virtually spine-free on the new growth at the upper half of the bush (where you pick), otherwise mostly single weak thorns. One of the best dessert varieties available!

Season: from late July.

Available for delivery: late November/December - early May.

Gooseberries and currants are delicious eaten fresh, freeze well and are perfect for making pies, jams and jellies. They are easy to grow and heavy yielding and although they prefer a sunny position, they will tolerate partial shade. Soil should be free draining. Gooseberries and currants will begin fruiting in the second year and once fully established will produce up to 4.5kg (10lb) of fruit per bush for at least 10 years. Plant 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) apart with a 1.5-1.8m (5-6ft) gap between rows. Plants are available from late November to late April.

For better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
