Blueberry Bushes

Blueberries are very expensive to buy in the shops, yet they are easy to grow and once established will crop reliably year after year. As well as being suitable for growing in the open ground (they do require an acid soil), they are perfect for growing in containers (using an ericaceous compost). With pretty white bell shaped spring flowers, succulent summer fruits and brilliant autumn foliage, they make exceptionally good patio plants. Blueberries are self-fertile but it It is best to plant two different varieties to improve pollination. Plant 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) apart.
