As garden fruits, peaches and nectarines have plenty going for them. The spring blossom is beautiful and the fruits picked straight from the tree are deliciously sweet and ‘run down your chin’ juicy. They are best grown as a fan on a sunny south or south-west facing wall, although peaches can also be grown as free standing bushes in favourable areas. When mature, you can expect to harvest 15-30lbs (7-14kg) of fruit from a fan trained tree and twice that amount from a bush tree. Our peaches and nectarines are grown on St. Julien ‘A’ rootstock which restrains the vigour and restricts the size of the tree. A fan will grow to the height of a 1.9m (6ft) fence panel and 3.6m (12ft) wide. Trees are available from late November to early May.
For better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
