This highly flavoured Cox-like apple is crisp and juicy and wonderfully aromatic. It is easier to grow than Cox, appears to be disease resistant and is suitable for growing countrywide. Developed for the London Urban Orchard Project, a charity that promotes community orchards and fruit tree growing in the capital, it gets its name from the fun cockney phrase that dates back to the 1880’s.

Pollination: Group B.

Season: Oct - Jan.

Available for delivery: late November - early May.

A much loved and ever popular fruit, dessert apples (sometimes referred to as eating apples) are those varieties that are sweet enough to be eaten ‘straight from the tree’ without any cooking required. One of the delights for any home gardener is watching apples ripen on the tree and then deciding which ones are ready to be harvested. With such a diverse range of appearances and flavours ranging from hints of strawberry to aniseed, an apple variety can be found to suit everyone.

Our apple trees are grafted onto M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush apple trees will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. To ensure rapid establishment, apple trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
