Duo Plum (Victoria/Oullins Golden Gage)

Duo Plum (Victoria/Oullins Golden Gage)

Duo Plum (Victoria/Oullins Golden Gage) Code: FPL102

£29.95 29.9500 In Stock New

A plum and gage low grafted onto a single tree:

Plum 'Victoria'

The UK'’s best known plum, raised in 1840 and grown commercially. The fruits are pinkish red with sweet, yellow, juicy flesh. A very popular dessert variety but also excellent cooked, producing a lovely pink syrup and almond aroma. Heavy cropping. Blossom is frost resistant. Season: late Aug.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Gage 'Oullins Golden Gage'

Rated by the Victorian writer Hogg as having "exquisite flavour and handsome appearance" this old French variety is more like a plum than a true gage. The fruits are large by gage standards and particularly attractive - golden yellow with faint red spots. Eaten fresh, the flesh is sweet and gage-like with a fruity flavour, far superior to most shop-brought plums. The fruits are also excellent cooked and freeze very well. An excellent choice for the garden, the tree crops reliably countrywide, even in poor summers. Season: mid Aug.

Family fruit trees are ideal for small gardens where there is only room for a single tree. They consist of two (duo trees) or three compatible varieties grafted onto one tree, allowing you to grow several different varieties in a relatively small amount of space. The varieties are carefully selected to cross-pollinate with one another so that they all get a good fruit set. Family trees are grafted onto semi-dwarfing rootstocks. They are supplied as bare-rooted, two year old trees and are approximately 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) tall on despatch. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
