Fragaria x ananassa 'Christine'

This new summer fruiting strawberry crops extremely early (10-14 days ahead of Elsanta) and sets new standards for fruit quality and disease resistance. The large bright red berries have an excellent flavour and good levels of natural sweetness. Good resistance to verticillium wilt and powdery mildew. Requires protection from frost.

Misted Tips are a new method of strawberry plant production used by commercial growers to maximize the maiden crop (the year after planting).  Now available to home gardeners, Misted Tip strawberry plants are produced by harvesting the best un-rooted runner tips from certified mother plants and rooting them into 4cm Ellepots under controlled conditions using a special mist propagation unit. Under these growing conditions very strong healthy plants are produced which will establish themselves very quickly once planted, improving the maiden crop by up to 100% compared to planting bare root strawberry runners in the autumn.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Season: early Summer (June - early July).

Available for delivery: August.

Strawberry Plants 'Malling Centenary' (12 plants)
£15.95 inc. p&pStrawberry Plants 'Malling Centenary' (12 plants)Bred in the UK by East Malling Research, this new variety was chosen to mark the 100th anniversary of the research station in 2013 and is considered to be the British strawberry of the future! Bred for the supermarkets but with the aim of putting flavour back into the berry, it has a unique combination of outstanding taste, heavy yields and good shelf life. The fruits are very juicy and the eating quality is consistently good with high sugar levels and an excellent strawberry flavour. We think that Malling Centenary also has great potential as a garden variety - Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr. was certainly impressed with the flavour when he was filmed tasting the fruit for the BBC's Great British Food Revival and the variety was shortlisted for 'Plant of the Year' at the 2013 Chelsea Flower Show.Buy Now
