Prunus 'Cot 'n' Candy'
Apriums are complex apricot-plum hybrids that show more apricot than plum characteristics (genetically they are 75% apricot and 25% plum). They resemble apricots and are noted for their intensely sweet apricot flavour with a plum after taste. The trees grow quickly and are more compact and easier to grow compared to most apricot varieties. Cot 'n' Candy is one of the best varieties for growing in the UK. The golden fruits are often blushed red and are very sweet and juicy with an incredible flavour. Apriums flower early and therefore require similar growing conditions to apricots - a warm, sheltered site in full sun. They can be trained as a fan or grown as free standing trees.
Season: early September.
