Malus 'Golden Hornet' (Pot Grown)

Malus 'Golden Hornet' (Pot Grown) Code: PAP332

£47.50 47.5000 In Stock New

Malus x zumi 'Golden Hornet'

This popular crab apple produces masses of golden conical fruits that persist into the winter when there is hardly any other bright colour about. The large white flowers have a pretty pink blush. An excellent pollinator.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Self-fertile. Universal Pollinator.

Height x spread in 10 years: up to 3m (10ft).

Available for delivery: early April - late August.

Crab apples (Malus) are related to the common apple and are grown for their lavish display of spring flowers and edible fruits which can be made into jelly. They are also very useful pollinators as they have a long flowering period and are often interplanted in commercial apple orchards to assist with pollination. Crab apples make ideal specimen trees and are suitable for smaller gardens. Grafted on to M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, our crab apples will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. Crab apple trees are 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Pot grown trees are available from April to late August.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order. All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
