Sibley's Patio Peach 'Avalon Pride'

Sibley's Patio Peach 'Avalon Pride' Code: PNA036

£44.95 44.9500 In Stock New

 Sold Out

This patio version of 'Avalon Pride' has been developed by fruit authority Will Sibley, who has for many years been working on a range of fruit trees for the home gardener. It has been grafted on to dwarf peach seedling rootstock using special grafting techniques to keep the tree even more compact. This is currently the only variety of peach with really strong resistance to damaging peach leaf curl disease. It produces heavy crops of large, yellow fleshed fruits with very good flavour. Semi-freestone. Can be kept restricted to a height of 1.2m (4ft).

Supplied as a one year old tree in a 5 litre pot. The tree is grafted at about 30cm (1ft) above soil level and has 2-3 shoots about 20cm (8in) long that will quickly develop into a bushy head.

RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Self-fertile.

Season: early August.

Plant size: 5 litre pot.

Available for delivery: all year.

Please note: Sibley's Patio Peach 'Avalon Pride' is excluded from the 'Buy any 2 Pot Grown Fruit Trees SAVE £5' offer.

As garden fruits, peaches and nectarines have plenty going for them. The spring blossom is beautiful and the fruits picked straight from the tree are deliciously sweet and ‘run down your chin’ juicy. They are best grown as a fan on a sunny south or south-west facing wall, although peaches can also be grown as free standing bushes in favourable areas. When mature, you can expect to harvest 15-30lbs (7-14kg) of fruit from a fan trained tree and twice that amount from a bush tree. Our peaches and nectarines are grown on the new Montclair semi-dwarfing rootstock which will restrict the size of the tree whilst improving yield and fruit size. A bush tree will grow 3.6m (12ft) in height and spread. A fan will grow to the height of a 1.9m (6ft) fence panel and 3.6m (12ft) wide. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order. All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
