Fruit & Nut Trees

Our range of top fruit trees have been specially selected to ensure great results in British gardens.  With a heavy emphasis on flavour and reliability we offer a large choice of fantastic varieties grown on virus free certified rootstocks. Most fruit trees are approximately 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) in height on despatch, mostly with side branches developing.  However please note that the sizes and shapes of individual varieties do vary considerably, and cordons in particular may be shorter than the overall guidance given above due to their more compact habit.

Pollination

Many of our fruit trees are self-fertile and will pollinate themselves satisfactorily. However, some varieties of apple, pear, plum and cherry are not self-fertile and will require a pollinator from the same species.  To ensure adequate pollination choose two varieties from the same species that are in the same flowering group or one group apart.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).

Quince Tree 'Portugal' (Pot Grown)
£49.95Quince Tree 'Portugal' (Pot Grown)This variety is generally considered the best flavoured of all quinces. The fruits are large and ripen to yellow-orange and the flesh turns red when cooked. They have a soft texture and mild flavour which makes them ideal for making quince marmalade and jelly. The tree is taller and more vigorous than other cultivated varieties, but is less hardy and therefore more suited to warmer areas. In cooler areas it should be grown as an espalier against a warm wall.Buy Now
Rangpur Lime Tree (Mandarin Lime)New Product
£85.95 inc. p&pRangpur Lime Tree (Mandarin Lime)This fruit has three different names depending in which part of the world you are standing. A cross between the Mandarin orange and a lemon, it has a taste much more akin to a lime than either of its parents. So much so in fact, that in South America it’s used as a lime substitute, and in Central Asia it is known as the Rangpur Lime. The leaves have an aromatic flavour, similar to kaffir lime leaves and can be used to flavour curries in much the same way. The great Victorian naturalist Joseph Hooker came across is during one of his plant collecting exploits in India and was so impressed with its refreshing attributes that he sent trees back to Charles Darwin. The Mandarin Lime (yet another of its names), forms a compact tree and due to its hardiness (it will withstand temperatures down to -6ºC) is very suitable for growing in planters on the terrace or balcony. It produces a mass of small white flowers which give off a very strong scent from Spring until late Summer. The fruits which are about the size of a snooker-ball ripen from late winter until late Spring. The skin is dark orange and rather speckled whilst the flesh is bright orange.Buy Now
