Malus 'Professor Sprenger' (Pot Grown)

Malus 'Professor Sprenger' (Pot Grown) Code: PMA311

£64.95 64.9500 In Stock New

Malus 'Professor Sprenger'

This beautiful crab apple rivals some of the flowering cherries for it’s display of fragrant white flowers that open from deep rose-pink buds in the spring. In the autumn the leaves turn yellow but the main feature at this time of year is the mass of very showy yellow-orange fruits that change to orange-red with a pink blush and will hang on the tree until January.

RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Self-fertile.

Height x spread in 10 years: up to 4m (13ft) x 3m (10ft).

Available for delivery: May - late August.

Crab apples (Malus) are related to the common apple and are grown for their lavish display of spring flowers and edible fruits which can be made into jelly. They are also very useful pollinators as they have a long flowering period and are often interplanted in commercial apple orchards to assist with pollination. Crab apples make ideal specimen trees and are suitable for smaller gardens. Crab apple trees are 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Pot grown trees are available from May to late August.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order. All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
