Apple Tree 'Bountiful'

Apple Tree 'Bountiful'

Apple Tree 'Bountiful' Code: APL022

£21.50 21.5000 In Stock New

Malus domestica 'Bountiful'

This dual purpose dessert/culinary apple is an excellent choice for the garden. When cooked the fruits retain some of their shape and are soft, juicy and sweet. In late winter it can be used as a dessert apple. Heavy cropping and very resistant to mildew.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Group A.

Season: Sept - Nov.

Available for delivery: late November - early April. Closing date for orders 31st March.

Culinary apples are those that can be cooked with. They tend to be larger than dessert apples and are not immediately edible – unless you like your apple very tart. The ‘cooking’ process makes all the difference; the result is a change to texture and a mellowing of flavour that is perfect for pies and tarts. Dual-purpose apples are those that can be cooked early in the season but become sweeter in storage, making them suitable for dessert use from late winter onwards.

Our apple trees are grafted onto M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush apple trees will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. To ensure rapid establishment, apple trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Trees are available from late November to early late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
