Pyrus (Ornamental Pear Trees)

Also known as the willow-leafed pear, this ornamental weeping pear tree is an ideal specimen tree for small gardens, particularly those based on a white, silver, grey or blue colour scheme. In the spring the arching branches are cloaked in beautiful silver-grey, willow-shaped leaves that darken to grey-green during the summer. In April-May the tree is covered in masses of single, creamy-white, scented flowers that are popular with bees and other pollinating insects. The blossom is followed by small brown-green fruits which are inedible to humans but attractive to birds. The willow-shaped leaves turn to shades of bronze and yellow during in the autumn. The tree is low maintenance and easy to grow in most garden situations.
