£21.50 21.5000 In Stock New

Rosa canina (Dog Rose/Wild Rose)

A fast growing prickly shrub often used in an informal mixed hedge to form an impenetrable barrier. The arching stems produce a burst of pale pink flowers in May/June followed by a fantastic show of edible bright red hips that are good for rose-hip syrup or providing bird food in the winter. Plant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart. Ultimate height (untrimmed): 2.1m (7ft). Recommended hedge height: 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft). Average growth rate: 45cm (18in) per year.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Height on despatch: 45-60cm (18-24in).

Available for delivery: late November/December - early May.

Hedging can provide nesting opportunities for birds and bring a wide range of wildlife to the garden. Many types of hedging also produce edible fruits that can be used to make jellies and drinks. To ensure rapid establishment, our hedging plants are supplied as two year old bare root plants. Available from late November to late April.

For better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
