Description

Asparagus officinalis 'Gijnlim'

Our best selling variety of asparagus. This all male F1 hybrid is also a favourite with commercial growers as it produces heavy crops very early in the season. Disease resistant and reliable, it does well on sandy and clay soils. The green spears are of medium thickness and have good flavour.

RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Season: early.

Pre-Order for delivery April 2026.

Asparagus is expensive to buy in the shops but is easy to grow and tastes delicious freshly harvested from the garden. In our opinion there is no other vegetable that beats home-grown asparagus, simply steamed and served with melted butter or Hollondaise sauce. We supply large one year old crowns which will establish quickly so that you can harvest your first crop (we recommend only sparingly) just one year after planting. Plants should be spaced 38cm (15in) apart in rows 1m (3ft) apart.
