Apple Tree 'Adam's Pearmain' Code: APL071

£20.95 20.9500 In Stock New

Malus domestica 'Adam's Pearmain'

This old English dessert apple is thought to have originated from Norfolk around 200 years ago. It was one of the most popular varieties in Victorian times and remains a valued garden variety today. The distinctive 'pearmain' shaped fruits are crisp with a rich, aromatic, nutty flavour typical of many russets. An excellent keeper. The tree has good scab resistance so is a good choice for wetter areas. Very attractive blossom.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Group A.

Season: Nov - March.

Available for delivery: late November - late April.

A much loved and ever popular fruit, dessert apples (sometimes referred to as eating apples) are those varieties that are sweet enough to be eaten ‘straight from the tree’ without any cooking required. One of the delights for any home gardener is watching apples ripen on the tree and then deciding which ones are ready to be harvested. With such a diverse range of appearances and flavours ranging from hints of strawberry to aniseed, an apple variety can be found to suit everyone.

Our apple trees are grafted onto M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush apple trees will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. To ensure rapid establishment, apple trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
