Apple Tree 'Golden Delicious'

Apple Tree 'Golden Delicious'

Apple Tree 'Golden Delicious' Code: APL049

£21.50 21.5000 In Stock New

Malus domestica 'Golden Delicious'

This well known dessert apple is a good garden variety for warmer parts of the UK. When left to ripen on the tree to a golden-green colour, the fruits are crisp, juicy and exceptionally sweet with a rich perfume. The flavour is markedly superior to imported fruits (often picked whilst still green, and then stored for months before sale). Resistant to scab and mildew. Very attractive blossom.

RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Group C.

Season: Nov - Feb.

Available for delivery: late November - late April.

A much loved and ever popular fruit, dessert apples (sometimes referred to as eating apples) are those varieties that are sweet enough to be eaten ‘straight from the tree’ without any cooking required. One of the delights for any home gardener is watching apples ripen on the tree and then deciding which ones are ready to be harvested. With such a diverse range of appearances and flavours ranging from hints of strawberry to aniseed, an apple variety can be found to suit everyone.

Our apple trees are grafted onto M26 semi-dwarfing rootstock, which will produce a tree that is easy to grow, easy to control and easy to pick. Bush apple trees will grow 2.4-3.6m (8-12ft) in height and spread. To ensure rapid establishment, apple trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order.  All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).
