Pyrus communis 'Beth'

An excellent pear for small gardens as it produces a small compact tree. The small-medium yellow fruits are smooth skinned with creamy white, very juicy melting flesh. A reliable and heavy cropper producing fruit from a young age. Suitable for the north.

Bred in the U.K.  RHS Award of Garden Merit  RHS Perfect for Pollinators

Pollination: Group D.

Season: Aug - Sept.

Tree Form: Cordon.

Available for delivery: late November - early April.

Pear trees, like apple trees, are easy to grow and suffer with very few problems. Cordons should be restricted to 1.8-2.4m (6-8ft) in height and can be spaced 60cm (2ft) apart. Choose a sunny, sheltered site. To ensure rapid establishment, cordon pear trees are supplied bare-rooted and will be 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) high on despatch. Trees are available from late November to late April.

Don't forget to include tree stakes and ties on your order. All young fruit trees require staking and for better establishment we strongly advise using Rootgrow when planting (as recommended in RHS planting guidelines).

Due to its primocane habit (cropping on the one year old cane) it is easy to manage and will crop in its first year. We recommend planting one plant per 35-40cm (14-16in) basket, although in the first year, for greater effect you can plant three plants per basket.
